Agate comes in wide assortment of colors, the most common being blue and green. Its opacity range from transparent to opaque and reflects a variety of beautiful colors. It presents various tints in the same specimen. These stones can be artificially stained to produce combinations of color more vivid than those found in the natural state.
The thickness of the agate bands can vary, but tend to stay consistent throughout a nodule. Sometimes if the cavity is not completely filled with agate, the center may contain crystals such as rock crystal, amethyst or smoky quartz.
